🐾 FIV and FeLV – What Every Cat Owner Should Know 🐾

Your cat isn’t just a pet. They are companions, comforters, pest control, and family. One of the most important ways to show your love is by making sure they are well protected.

Two serious diseases every cat owner should know about are Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV).

  • FIV and FeLV are viruses that spread between cats. Once a cat has the virus, there is no cure.
    • These viruses weaken the immune system, making it harder for infected cats to fight illness.
    • Cats can carry the virus for months or years without showing signs.

🐱 How do cats get infected?
• Contact with infected cats
• FIV: wounds from fighting
• FeLV: close contact such as grooming, sharing bowls, and saliva

🛡️ How can I keep my cat safe?
• There is no cure. Prevention is the ONLY way.
• Vaccinate against FIV and FeLV and keep vaccinations up to date.
• Test new cats before vaccinating and introducing them to others.

❤️ At Petpassion, we vaccinate to prevent suffering and help your cat live the best life possible.
